A king and his queen have everything they could want in life except children. A magician grants them their wish of a child but on the condition that they only do good deeds. However, an unkind act to a poor urchin leads the magician to place a curse on the couple causing their daughter to be born extremely ugly. The girl grows up very saddened by her appearance. Her life is full of unhappiness until one day she discovers a prince who has also been the victim of a bad spell.
